We are super stoked to have Chuck on board. He is a great guy with a lot of heart. We look forward to seeing many great things from him. He represents our commitment to excellence.
Interview with Chuck:
What’s your favorite break? Cardiff is a fun all around rolling wave with a good vibe and is very SUP friendly. I also like the fast hollow break of Oceanside.
Sprints or Distance Races? Sprints. - I was involved in 1st leg of The Race Across America fund raiser for autism on a race board from Malibu to Oceanside. It took 20 hours and was 110 miles.
What is your favorite type of paddling? Down-winding! Usually 6-8 miles.
Favorite size race board? 14’ Kings
Favorite size/shape SUP Surf Board? Kings 8’ – 10’ depending on conditions. I like different boards in different conditions.
Why Premiere? As a smaller company it seemed like a natural fit. I also wanted to support a true SUP Apparel Company. The stretch Boardshorts are killer!
Kings Paddle Sports, Why? Dave and Rhonda are great people. Dave has amazing talent with regards to shaping boards and surfing. He hands crafts everything and pays so much attention to detail that I don’t think other manufacturers do.
What’s Next? Molokai Relay, Battle of the Paddle, CA and several local races and surf contests. I look forward to the next year as the sport grows.
Congrats Terri for a top 10 finalist for the Female Athlete of the Year. There is a lot of great paddlers out there that have accomplished many great things. Terri is in the beginning stages of many great things to come in her paddling career. Good Job Terri. http://www.supthemag.com/2011-sup-awards/vote/top-3-female-paddlers/
Terri preparing for the 6 mile Bend Paddle Challenge on the Deschutes River. Terri and nephew Jason drove to Bend Oregon to compete in the contest. Terri finished with a convincing 2nd place behind world class athlete Karen Wrenn. Jason (12) finished 1st in his age class and 8th overall in mens 2 mile division.
Along their 1800 mile round trip journey to Bend Terri and Jason hopped in the water every chance they got. Including on the way home paddling the Delta in Sacramento. I got a chance to paddle with Jason and his new buddy Tal Williford from Santa Cruz on the Deschutes the day before the event. These two were tearing it up on a class 2 rapid about a mile north of the event. Paddling up river isnt the easiest thing, but these two were determined. They walked their boards on the side of the river through the trees just to get to the north end of the rapids then took turns jumping on the board and riding the rapids down. Great time in Bend!
As for me, I made a 2 week family RV trip out of it and paddled everywhere I could and scouted some spots for next years journey including some great beach breaks in southern Oregon to Klamath River and Lake Tahoe. Killer trip cant wait to do it again.
